Happy November!

Belated Halloween wishes.
I hope the last day of October was good to you.
Now we start a brand new month.
New choices, new energy, new beginnings.
Thank you, November, for reminding us we have so much to be grateful for.
Today is also World Vegan Day.  And since it's the season for pumpkin, I made a Pumpkin Coffee Cake with Pecan Crumb topping (the recipe is from Vegan Richa).  My husband usually complains about my vegan baking, but apparently this cake passes muster with him.
Went for a nice long walk today.  It helps to get the creative juices flowing.  It's still a little warm, but pleasant enough for wandering.  We are now in the growing season, my favorite time of year since there's always something new to see along the way.
If you are driven by fear, anger or pride nature will force you to compete.  If you are guided by courage, awareness, tranquility and peace nature will serve you.

Wishing you peaceful days.

I've missed you! Good to see you post. Your cake does look delicious. I love your crochet pumpkin and heart. I made one of the pumpkins on Lucy's blog and love how it turned out. Now I need to make the stem. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Happy November, Tammy. My birth month and my favorite.
Very cold days here now in general, but a little warmth thrown in to make things interesting ~ that's life in Illinois.

Looks like a nice pumpkin cake.
Hope you enjoy a wonderful month.

Dearest Tammy,
November 2 of 2017 will be forever in my memory as it is the darkest day ever.
Pieter had a nuclear stress test taken on the 25th because his heart valves are leaking...
I'd distracted both of us from this enormous stressful period by booking 2 nights at Hyatt Place Savannah/Hilton Head Airport. Convenient for biking next day around noon on Hilton Head with our bikes that we brought on our bike rack.
It was paradise, the weather was perfect and the bike trail a dream in nature with plenty of benches for a break with a mandarin and some dark chocolate. At the end of our trail we had a stop at a Salty Dog Restaurant and sat outdoors. So relaxed for enjoying a coffee with dessert (Pieter and for me 1 bite). We biked happily back. Next day we did the Spanish Moss Trail on Beaufort, SC a former rail track. That was good too. Benches but no restaurants... We had also each night great seafood at a restaurant only 3 min walking away. Perfect. Monday the results of the nuclear stress test at 8:30 AM and I went along of course. Not good, he needed to be catheterized to see if they could do something. So we spent all morning at the hospital for blood work and paperwork for Thursday's cath. The cardiologist first said oh, I'm looking for Mr. Vedder's party, that's not you... Yes, I said he IS my husband. So he started rattling the verdict to me, from a sloppily written note where all the problems were. There is nothing what we can do anymore. All those bypasses (4) from Sept. 3, 2010 are functioning still perfect. But there was a small tumor they left alone and there were diffused small vessels that he had to leave alone. Placing a stent there would do more damage than good. Pieter will be on more meds instead and he will die from Atrial fibrillation... Having to take a diuretic for all the fluid that does flow back and will cause an edema.
I'm so heavy hearted right now and want to write my South Africa stories from 1985 so Pieter can read it back and enjoy that.
Sending you love and know that I have a 1st cousin in The Netherlands that is doing exactly the same as you are doing in a group in their neighborhood. It made me smile; sweet women!
Our Choir will perform on Tuesday at an Antique Fair for a women's group that raises money for scholarships.
Hugs,
Mariette

Such a simple and yet exquisite reminder to be thankful. You have inspired me to renew a previous practice to start every day thinking of at least one reason for gratitude. I don't have any pumpkin cake at the moment, but I do have two pumpkin candles adding aroma and light to a winter evening. Aaahhh. It's also a bit shocking to see greenery in your walk-about pictures - I am looking at a winter wonderland out of my window! Have a delightful weekend, my friend.
